This recent BBC documentary is superb!  It shows the cover-ups, ghost-written articles in prestigious journal publications, and the overall deceptive practices of the GSK in the promotion of its blockbuster antidepressant, Paxil.  This is a 30 minute documentary that will infuriate you and turn your stomach.  Please take the time to watch it!

Note: Seroxat is the British version of the antidepressant Paxil manufactured by GSK (Glaxo Smith Kline) and indicated for anxiety and depression.  It is not indicated for children under the age of 18.

You will definitely want to take the 7 minutes required to watch the following YouTube video on Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK)--the infamous pharmaceutical manufacturer of Paxil, Avandia, and AZT (the AIDS drug).  This is corporate greed at its finest...

The FDA committee on pyschopharmacologic therapies met in December 2006 to discuss expansion of the Black Box warning for antidepressants.  I testified at this public hearing and declare it was the biggest "dog and pony show" I had witnessed since leaving the industry.  It was clear to me that the FDA was more interested in protecting the interests of the pharmaceutical cartel than it was those of the American public!

Under The Influence

NEW YORK, April 1, 2007 (CBS) If you have ever wondered why the cost of prescription drugs in the United States are the highest in the world or why it's illegal to import cheaper drugs from Canada or Mexico, you need look no further than the pharmaceutical lobby and its influence in Washington, D.C.

According to a new report by the
Center for Public Integrity, congressmen are outnumbered two to one by lobbyists for an industry that spends roughly a $100 million a year in campaign contributions and lobbying expenses to protect its profits.

One reason those profits have exceeded Wall Street expectations is the Medicare prescription drug bill. It was passed three-and-a-half years ago, but as 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft reports, its effects are still reverberating through the halls of Congress, providing a window into how the lobby works.
