MISSION

The Gwen Olsen Foundation for Health Sovereignty is organized and operates as a non-profit business league under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act for such purposes as shall qualify it as exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

The purpose and Mission Statement of the Organization is:

  1. To provide educational resources to improve patients’ and care-takers’ knowledge of treatment options and their associated risks-to-benefits via website, blog, articles, interviews, speaking engagements, conferences, webinars, podcasts and social media.
  2. To help sufferers of iatrogenic drug damage return to healthy, productive lives through alternative treatments and modalities via retreat and wellness services, one-on-one health coaching, and professional referral services.
  3. To educate the general public and raise awareness for natural, proactive wellness and health sovereignty.
  4. To provide networking for professionals, providers and patients to share services and fair-balanced information.

BOARD AND STAFF

GWEN OLSEN
PRESIDENT/FOUNDER

Gwen Olsen is the author of the award-winning book, Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher. She is a contributing author to three more books: Drugging Our Children by Dr. Sharna Olfman et al, Doctor of the Future by Dan Yachter, D.C., and the Maximized Living Makeover Manual by Dr. Ben Lerner et al. Gwen has also published health-related articles in the Well Being Journal, Natural News, and the Health News Digest. For over a decade, Gwen has made hundreds of public appearances and presentations and has been interviewed and featured on national and international television, radio, on-line and print media, and in 12 documentary films.

A 1982 graduate of Indiana University, Gwen is a passionate health activist, writer, and dynamic speaker who devotes much of her time to mental health and child advocacy. Gwen volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the Travis County court system from 1995 to 2000, serving as an advocate for abused and neglected foster children in Texas. A 2007 Human Rights Award recipient, she is sought after internationally as a speaker and media resource, and has testified numerous times before Congress and the FDA.

Gwen spent 15 years as a pharmaceutical rep from 1985–2000 and worked for McNeil Pharmaceutical, Syntex Laboratories, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Labs and Forest Laboratories. She was a hospital rep and specialist rep for the majority of her career, educating residents in hospital teaching settings and selling prescription drugs to doctors in obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and psychiatry. As a certified health coach, she is a supportive mentor who motivates people to make positive health choices. With her background in pharmacology, education in herbology and nutrition, as well as experience in orthomolecular medicine, Gwen has a diverse knowledge base from which to assist clients in making good health decisions.



ROD OLSEN
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/TREASURER

Rod graduated with a degree in business administration from Texas A & M University (Corpus Christi), after serving in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service from 1980-1984. He subsequently joined the U.S. Naval Reserves and was activated and deployed to the Gulf War in 1990. His exposure to experimental vaccines and multiple other toxins in the theater of war had devastating effects on his health forcing him to seek alternative treatment for chronic health issues.

Previously, Rod worked 25 years in various capacities of the mortgage banking industry. His last corporate position was with Fannie Mae as a mortgage investment portfolio manager. In this position, he was part of a team managing large volume portfolios for banks such as One West Bank, Ocwen Mortgage Servicing, and Met Life. His account responsibility exceeded billions in assets.

A recently retired, father of three, Rod now lives in a permaculture community with his family, and enjoys the outdoors, ocean kayak fishing, and exploring his new environs in Costa Rica.


CHUCK RICHEY
SENIOR BOARD MEMBER

Chuck was born at Ft. Polk, Louisiana and later served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from 1972-1974. After completing his service in the armed services, he attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where he studied business and received his B.A.A.S. degree.

Chuck worked in the financial area of the automobile industry for 25 yrs before leaving in 2009. He and his family relocated from Paris, Texas to the Austin, Texas area and made his home in the suburb Round Rock. In November 2010, he became interested in a newly FDA-approved medical device called the LaserTouchOne and became the sole Austin-area distributor. Chuck is enjoying his seventh year as a distributor of the LaserTouchOne helping people with pain states avoid addiction to pharmaceuticals.

In 2012, Chuck and his wife Rebecca purchased land in Leander, Texas and developed it into a Class A, RV & boat storage facility, Presidential RV Storage.



AARON GAMES, C.P.A., M.B.A.
BOARD MEMBER

Aaron is a native Texan. He grew up in Georgetown, Texas and graduated from Anderson H.S. in 1992. He subsequently attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where he earned his degree in Certified Public Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration.

Aaron is an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast who enjoys hunting, fishing and roping. Aaron is engaged to be married on tax day–April 15th.



MASHA MAYER
BOARD MEMBER

Masha was born in New York, moved at the age of 4 to Bogotá, Colombia where she studied to become a Medical Laboratory Technologist. She worked in clinical laboratories for 8 years before her family moved to the United States in 1983. Once in the U.S., Masha completed her Masters in Biomedical Sciences and continued her studies to become a Nutritionist.

Masha is a Reiki Master Instructor who also trained in The Reconnection with Eric Pearl. Additionally, she took several courses in cranial sacral therapy. Today, Masha’s focus is mainly in Nutrition, working as a counselor and adviser, but she uses all her acquired knowledge to form a comprehensive view of the best way to help her clients.


ROSS MCKENZIE
BOARD MEMBER

After being prescribed lithium for 16 years to treat an alleged bipolar disorder diagnosis, Ross progressively reduced his use of the psychotropic drug, using a mind, body and spiritual approach to treat the root causes of his symptoms. Today he is healthy, vibrant, and free from psychotropic medication and mental health symptoms—and most importantly, he is living an inspired and creative life. His 20 year research journey into integrated healing approaches was the driving force that led him to co-produce the multi-award winning documentary film, Bipolarized, and later to co-found the Mental Wellness Summit to educate others.

As a public speaker and certified life coach he is helping individuals reclaim their lives, and to source the root causes of their own mental health challenges.



LES VIRGIL
BOARD MEMBER

Les brings more than 35 years’ experience in addiction treatment, behavioral health, and Employee Assistance Programs. He was a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CADAC) in the State of Texas and a Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC). His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology and a Master of Arts in public administration and psychology. He has been a principle in start-up operations and served on the boards of several professional associations.

Les previously held the position of National Account Executive with Managed Health Network and subsequently Cigna Behavioral Health, as well as Director of EAP for the Texas Commission on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. In 2009, Les established Executives~Connected, which provides executive recruiting for addiction treatment, behavioral health and EAPs nationwide.



ASHTORA
BOARD MEMBER

Ashtora graduated from the University of Utah’s Communication Department and Peace & Conflict Studies Department, in the College of Humanities, in 2017. She is a member of the Sigma Alpha Pi Honor Society of Leadership and Success.

With 15 years previous experience in the nonprofit world, coupled with her newly developed skills in making documentaries telling stories that matter, as well as TESOL training, Ashtora launched the nonprofit for the benefit of the youth of South Sudan, Village to Village–Youth to Youth, and serves as its CEO. In Salt Lake City, she is heavily invested with the Mabaan African tribe and their youth, who provide the peer support for this project.

Conflict resolution, mediation, and dialogue, along with effective messaging, are Ashtora’s strong suits. She attributes her life’s successes to learning to communicate from her heart, and consistently putting relationships above issues. Her dedication to social welfare has led her to serve in numerous humanitarian capacities, from recruiting and training community volunteers to mentor youth aging out of Utah’s foster care system; to supporting hospice patients through end-stage-of-life care; to representing families of children with disabilities; and serving as public outreach director for the National Wildlife Federation, promoting environmental practices, and issues lobbying.


CAROL CREEL
SECRETARY

Carol’s entrepreneurial business expertise for over thirty-seven years has been in the Natural/Alternative Health Industry. She owned several natural food brokerage companies which garnered her exceptional knowledge in alternative healing modalities, and earned her much success in life.

Carol’s background includes professional sales and organizational experience, including extensive marketing and health education skills. She has built a professional reputation on integrity, creativity, vision and follow-through and is blessed with an outstanding ability to empower and motivate individuals to achieve their greatness.

Carol is passionate in her100% commitment to healing, inspiring and empowering others in living a life that works! For over a decade, she has been coaching, mentoring individuals, and facilitating groups in forgiveness, spiritual enlightenment and inner illumination, divine knowledge and ancient wisdom.


JOHN MORRIS
I.T. SERVICES

John is the founder and CEO of Off-Trail Solutions, a business development and marketing firm that works with entrepreneurs and businesses providing unique services in web development, brand development and project management. He provides personalized out-of-the-box solutions for every challenge. Before devoting his work full-time to Off-Trail Solutions, John worked as a Designer, Web Developer, QA Manager, Usability Consultant, and Project Manager at various start-up and established companies including McGraw Hill, Shockwave, Macromedia, and Adobe. 


In addition to being a business development consultant, John is a painter, a nature enthusiast, and a food revolutionist chef. He enjoys doing art and film projects, revels in guiding families through the jungle and is passionate about sharing tasty, healthy food with anyone he meets.
